Last week we asked which Sacramento gay bar you are. The Depot came in first with almost 50% of the votes. Faces came in dead last with a single vote. Interesting…

Big Update: We now have a community, a mini social network on the site you can find and connect with other Sac Queens. There's a channel for local Recs, one for all things Drag, and Missed Connections for the person you were too shy to talk to at Baddies. Start in Introductions and say hi: name, neighborhood, and your drink of choice. See you in there!

People keep asking how they can get involved with Sac Queens… So, we are now taking contributors! Find, interview, and write our Person of the Week blurb, review a weekend event you went to, respond to comments in our new community, or pitch us something we haven't dreamed up! We can't pay yet (three months old, still free), but you get a byline in front of 300+ locals and lots of drink tickets bar at the holiday party. If you’re interested, reply and tell us what you're interested in and we’ll go from there!

The Dreamland Cinema

If your idea of a perfect date is sitting in the dark and then arguing about the movie afterward, Lauren Hess and Tish Sparks built you a home. The Dreamland is a queer-owned microcinema at 1901 P Street in Midtown, all indie, international, cult, and arthouse, with programming so specific it comes in named series: The Midnight Society for the freaks, The Golden Age for the classicists, Subterranean for whatever you're not quite ready for.
